This
article on unique craft room organization by Julie Finn inspired me to
not recycle my oatmeal container.
Instead I decoupaged it, and will be using it to store tiny fabric scraps (this will be replacing my current system of piling them on my sewing table until they become a problem).

I have a bin in my closet full of scrapbooking materials that I've saved over the years. Including sketches I'm made, magazine pages I liked, pretty wrapping paper, stickers, etc...

What I like so much about using these saved materials (versus buying scrapbooking paper packs from a craft store) is that each image is a memory, or in the case of magazine pages, thought provoking.

I also make my own embellishments, such as the red heart on the moon or the striped frame for the stars (see previous pic, upper right-hand corner) and the green and purple flower (first pic).

If I find a better container for little fabric scraps (this one is really too big), I might just turn this into a ribbon holder. ModHomeEcTeacher has a good
tutorial, although I might add a rod in the middle to stabilize the ribbon spools.
