welcome

Welcome to my eco-practical crafting blog. This is my attempt to eliminate toxic chemicals, reduce new materials usage and reduce waste production in my crafting process. I also want to make beautiful projects! The interesting part will be playing around with different solutions to the inherent design challenges. And I would love to hear how you would or did solve those problems yourselves.

Max works on his laptop while I crochet. We have a futon now, but for a long time we lounged on the floor.

I am addicted to crafting, and crochet has been my favorite for many years. I learned to crochet when I was seven, although I didn't really get into it until high school. Since then I've made nine afghans that I've either donated to charity or given to family and friends. Of course I've also made many hats and scarves (but have yet to take on a sweater). I'm teaching myself to sew. In middle school home-ec I made a pillow and a little drawstring bag, but now that I have my own sewing machine I'm making a quilt. I am currently also attempting woodwork with the dremel (which is a power carving tool) in order to make a decorative frame.
