Picking random stuff up off the ground in one of my habits that drives Max nuts, but I do it anyway. Here is my metal bits and pieces collection which also includes our broken vegetable peeler.
Some of these things (the screws for instance) I think are best suited for their original purpose. Others I'll probably use as decoration in some steampunk-like fashion. Still there's a good chance I'll never get around to any such projects, so... they might just end up going to some place that melts down scrap metal.
In the mean time they sit on my windowsill in a jar.

Hope these bits find their way into some art....
You could do a modern CQ and use them for embellishment items. Heck, you could ask all kinds of people to send you the bits of their junk drawer and have enough items for a very big quilt! It could really be quite fun!
